Lip balm is one of my must-have items. I'm guilty for not having enough water throughout the day so my lips are always dry. I hate having dry lips because I love lipsticks and guess what's my fave lipstick finish? Matte. I love matte lipsticks. But matte lipstick and dry lips combo are the worst so I'm always on the hunt for best lip balm to help me moisturize my lips. Here are the balms that I'm currently using.
Smith's Rosebud Salve
Bought this because I've heard many great reviews about this balm. It looks pink but goes on translucent on the lips. I have to say I'm agree with good reviews I found because it makes my lips hydrated for hours. Not whole day, but long hours. I love the product but I hate the packaging. It comes in a tin and I need to dip my finger to get the product. Some people concerned about the amount of bacteria but for me that's not the case. I hate it because I have long nails and the balm will stuck under my nails.
You just need a bit of the balm, otherwise you'll be left with greasy lips. Anyway, actually this is a multi-tasking balm, you can use it anywhere on your body that needs moisture. Get Smith's Rosebud Salve here.
Cherry Culture Watermelon Lip Balm
Smells nice! I love the scent, but the lip balm itself is a bit too oily for my liking. I can't put my lipstick on right after I use the balm. I have to wait a few mins and then blot the remaining balm away. It helps to hydrate but I don't use it often because of the greasy feeling it leaves. Get Cherry Culture Watermelon Lip Balm here.
EOS Honeydew Honeysuckle Smooth Sphere Lip Balm
Despite the fame, I find this funny-looking lip balm doesn't do anything for my lips. Yes, it's cute and smells nice but I don't find it hydrates my lips. Maybe it's for someone who just wanna maintain the moisture on their lips instead of intense moisture? It doesn't leave any disturbing layer on the lips though, so you can use your lipstick right after the balm. Get EOS Honeydew Honeysuckle Smooth Sphere Lip Balm here.
The Body Shop Strawberry Born Lippy
Got this from my aunt. I don't really like it.. because of the pot packaging (same reason with Rosebud Salve I stated above) and it feels sticky on the lips. It smells nice and gives a little wash of color to my lips but I don't like the stickiness and it feels like it leaves a film layer on top of my lips so I rarely use it. Maybelline Smoothing Cherry Baby Lips
My go-to lip balm! I actually got this lip balm from my sister, she doesn't like the scent so she gave it to me. The scent is a bit strong but it doesn't stay forever on the lips. The lip balm itself is kinda hard, not as mushy as Cherry Culture's, but I still can feel the product on my lips. It's not too oily but it helps to moisturize, I need to reapply a few times in a day but it's not a big problem for me. The moisturizing effect is not as long as the Smith's but it's decent. It feels comfortable on the lips and I can use lipstick right after I use this balm. Get Maybelline Smoothing Cherry Baby Lips here.
Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm
I think this is the tube version of Rosebud Salve but in different scent haha. I like this one better than the one in tin because it's more convenient. Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm has slanted tip with a little hole so I just need to squeeze the tube a bit and slather the product to my lips. I always use this balm after I brush my teeth because I believe the foam from my toothpaste dries my lips like crazy. Get Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm here.
