This year's Met Gala dress code is white tie and decorations. White tie (or full dress, evening dress, full evening dress; slang top hat and tails or white tie and tails, tailsuit, tails) is the most formal evening dress code in Western fashion (from
wikipedia). Without further ado, let's just jump right into red carpet photos and my comments as usual hahaha.
Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa. I LOVE THE DRESS. The gown is by Marchesa but at the first glance I thought it was Zac Posen.. But it doesn't matter. Still a super pretty ballgown.
Rihanna in Stella McCartney. Looks amazing, don't you think? One thing that I think missing in Rihanna's outfit is nipple cover but other than that, she looks divine.
Anne Hathaway in Calvin Klein. At first I didn't really like her dress because it's too simple for my taste. But after a while, seeing the whole outfit again and again, I changed my mind. The dress is very pretty on her. It's like simple everything but very pulled together.
Victoria Beckham in her own label and David Beckham in whatever I don't care and don't remember because he looks hot in anything. Let's talk about VB. Her dress is very simple, I don't see many details, very sleek, very VB. It fits her perfectly. If it's not VB who wore the dress, I don't think it'll look as good.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in vintage Ferre and vintage Chanel. To be honest, I can't differ this twin. I don't know which one is Ashley and which one is Mary-Kate lol but after a few websites, I guess the left one is MK and right one is Ashley. I love Ashley's dress a lot! I can feel the classiness of Chanel in the combination of navy blue dress and gold button. As for MK, I think the dress is too big for her and I don't like the big front tie.
Blake Lively in Gucci. I'm not a fan of Blake and usually don't like her dresses. But this time, hands up, she looks super gorgeous, goddess-like.
Cara Delevingne in Stella McCartney. Edgy babyyyyy! Although I think this outfit is not so white tie, but I think she looks amazing. Ah c'mon it's Cara. She can do no wrong.
Gisele Bundchen in Balenciaga. Very safe dress. I mean, long black dress is just something very common for formal events. The dress is pretty, tho. Just too normal.
Tabitha Simmons in Dolce&Gabanna. It's like my childhood dream dress came true. Don't you think it's just too pretty? I love the dress so much. Very pretty.. Just like something from the fairy tale. I think the dress could be a perfect wedding gown for Spring wedding.
Arizona Muse in Ralph&Russo Haute Couture. Elegant gown with sparkly accessories. Perfect.
Emma Stone in Thakoon. That's the designer beside her, by the way. I think she looks pretty and adorable, but not glam. The colors of the dress is too fun for a ball and the hair-do is too simple for my liking. The hair-do compliments the dress beautifully, tho.
Dakota Johnson in Jason Wu. Love the skirt but not the top. The top reminds me of sleeping lingerie. You don't go to a ball wearing a lingerie. I know it's not lingerie, but still.
Dita von Teese in Zac Posen. Wow her skin is so fair O_O but anyway, I like the bottom half of the dress. Dislike the top part.
Kim Kardashian in custom Lanvin. Wayyy better than last year.
Johnny Depp in Ralph Lauren and Amber Heard in Giambattista Valli. Sorry don't care about Amber. Mr Depp looks amazing, no? The pants could be a little tighter tho. But his overall look is very classy. I LIKE.
Kristen Stewart in Chanel. Ugh, no. Just no.
Elizabeth Olsen in Miu Miu. Number one, the shoes don't match. Number two, just like Rihanna, she needs a nipple cover. Why didn't she ask her sisters opinion about her outfit???
Lupita Nyong'o in Prada. Why, Lupita, whyyyyyy???? Like really.. what's the point of that dress? It looks like something that used by The Hunger Games finalist who came from district 7.. I'm really disappointed with Lupita's dress choice this time :(
Nicole Richie in Topshop. I think the dress looks frumpy and the makeup makes her look very sleepy and tired. No.
Neil Patrick Harris and fiance in Thom Browne. Their tux is simply one of the most unique tux I've ever seen. I like NPH's tux better. I don't like Mr fiance's tux pattern. But anyway, one thing I wanna say here is.. why does NPH look so so much older? His forehead seems to be bigger, is he going to be bald soon?
Bonus pic: Mrs and Mr Beckham. OMG THIS IS JUST TOO TOO PERFECT. I CAN'T.
Ok that's it for this post. I'm tired hahaha. Anyway, there's one more thing. I think this year's Valentino dresses for the Met Ball are not really good :( Not the worst, just not his best.. Just my opinion, tho. See you in my next post!
