DOROTHY PERKINS STYLING COMPETITION: THE MAXI
Hiiii everybodyyyyy, I'm back!! I ran out of internet quota last week so I can't do much here in blogosphere. Today's post will be an outfit post. I use one maxi skirt to create two different looks. Maxi skirt is one of Dorothy Perkins' Style Essentials for the spring.
I think maxi skirt is a really great piece in one's wardrobe. Some people think that maxi skirt makes you look shorter. I beg to differ, darling. Yes it can make you look short but if you choose carefully, maxi skirt can make you look taller! You just have to find the right length. Wear maxi skirt that starts right on your waist and make sure the length is not too long or too short. I prefer the hem of my maxi skirt falls right before the sole of my high heels. That way I look like I have long supermodel legs hehe. Another tip: don't forget to define your waistline so you don't drown in your clothes.
But as I already said, I'm quiet tall so you petite girls might not believe me. Hey, see Wendy Nguyen! She's petite and looks mega amazing in her maxi skirt. Drool over her post and leave a comment here, tell me what do you think. I believe you'll agree with me muahahaha.
Okay to the first look. I paired floral kimono with maxi skirt, defining the waist with black velvet obi. I decided to put soft makeup for this look because spring reminds me of breezy wind and some little ray of sunshine, so I want the face to look fresh :D
I styled a strong woman look for the second set. I wanna let you guys see how versatile a maxi skirt can be despite the pleated detail (maybe you can't really see, urgh, I didn't capture the pleat details.. Sorry T_T) that screams femininity :)
For the makeup, I drew stronger brows to balance the red lips, left out the blush and put heavier contour instead.
I look kinda scary eh, smiling wide open flashing my teeth like this? lol *reminding myself to smile politely for next photo session* |
You can join Dorothy Perkins Styling Competition too if you want to, there are still some time left.. They will close the competition on May 16th so you have more than 2 weeks to join.
I think this is the end of this post.. WISH ME LUCK, GUYS ♥♥♥

Great skirt! I can only wear a maxi skirt / dress with heels, or else I look super tiny (I'm only 5'6 :/ ) I love your advice on how to make a maxi skirt work with your height!
